Starting a New Chapter: My Journey to a New Job

Hi! So happy you are here...

We just wrapped up our Philippines Trip Series, sharing all the adventures, challenges, and special moments of our little family vacation. It was an incredible journey, and I hope you’ve enjoyed following along with us. But now, I’m excited to share some wonderful news that marks the beginning of a new chapter in my life—I've landed a new job!

The decision to leave a job and start something new is never easy, but sometimes it’s exactly what you need for growth. After spending a few years in my current role, I realized it was time for a change. Whether it’s for new challenges, better opportunities, or simply a desire to explore something different, the journey of finding a new job can be exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time.

In this post, I’ll be sharing my journey to landing a new job, the lessons I learned, and what I’ve experienced along the way. If you’re thinking about making a career move or you’re currently on the job hunt, I hope this helps inspire you.

Why I Decided to Look for a New Job?

For me, the decision to start searching for a new job wasn’t made overnight. Here’s what led to it:

  • Seeking Growth and Development: After reflecting on my career, I realized I had hit a plateau. While I loved my job as  Hotel Engineering Admin, I wanted to take on new challenges and learn new skills. I was eager for growth—both professionally and personally.

  • Work-Life Balance: One of the biggest factors in my decision was the desire for a better work-life balance. With a family to care for and personal goals to achieve, I knew I needed a role that offered flexibility and a healthier balance.

  • Exploring New Opportunities: Sometimes, you just know it’s time for a change. I wanted to explore different industries, teams, and companies to broaden my horizons and see what other opportunities were out there.

The Job Search: A Year of Searching, Preparing, and Rejections

The job search process is never smooth sailing, and for me, the past year was a reminder of how challenging and unpredictable it can be. I spent a lot of time preparing applications, updating my resume, and researching potential opportunities, but the reality was that, despite my efforts, I never received a call for an interview.

  • Sending Applications: I spent the last year sending out countless applications, perfecting my resume, and tailoring cover letters to match each job. I prepared myself just in case an opportunity came through, but I didn’t get a single interview call.

  • Staying Prepared: Even though the calls didn’t come, I kept myself ready. I used the time to improve my interview skills, research companies I was interested in, and continue my professional development. Each rejection made me more determined to stay ready for the right opportunity.

  • Building Resilience: There were definitely moments of frustration, but I reminded myself that the process takes time. I learned to stay resilient and patient, understanding that the right job was out there, even if it took longer than expected.

The Offer: Finding the Right Fit

After all that time searching, preparing, and staying hopeful, I finally received an interview and finally an offer! It was such a relief and a moment of excitement. However, it wasn’t just about the offer—it was about finding the right fit for me and my family.

  • The Right Role: I chose a position that aligned with my career goals and offered growth opportunities. It was important for me to find a role that would challenge me but also allow me to maintain the work-life balance I was looking for.

  • Company Culture: The company culture was just as important as the job itself. I wanted to make sure the company’s values aligned with mine, and that the team environment was collaborative and supportive.

  • Salary and Benefits: Of course, salary and benefits were important factors. But I also took into consideration things like flexibility, benefits, and the overall work environment. It was important for me to ensure that the offer met both my professional and personal needs.

Looking Ahead: A New Chapter Begins

Starting a new job is always exciting, but it’s also a big change. I’m excited to take on this new role, meet new colleagues, and grow in my career. But I’m also taking time to reflect on what this change means for me and my family.

The journey of finding a new job is never easy, but it’s also a reminder that growth, change, and new opportunities are always around the corner. If you’re on a similar journey, I encourage you to trust the process, stay positive, and remember that the right opportunity is out there waiting for you.

What’s Next?

I’m looking forward to what comes next in this new chapter of my career, and I can’t wait to share more of my journey with you. Stay tuned for more updates!

XOXO
