Vegetable Soup for Tuesday: Turning Page
Hia!
Today I'm sharing my favorite hand picked song and most probably the song I want to play for my husband to be on our wedding day. But push that aside, I'm almost done with my duties and I'm having this last song syndrome in my head. I really fell in love to the song Turning Page of Sleeping At Last. It was calming and sweet in every aspect. The writer of the song actually base the lyrics to his wedding day inspired of the love for his wife. So you really can feel the sincerity of the song of someone who love another very much. I'm praying for one right now and I hope that there's still some guys like the writer out there who look at you as if you are a magic, a garden full of beautiful flowers, or even a stars in the sky.
A little about the band who is behind this wonderful song.
Via Wikipedia: Sleeping at Last is an alternative rock[citation needed] musical project led by singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ryan O'Neal. The project initially began in Wheaton, Illinois as a three-piece band with Ryan O'Neal as the lead singer and guitarist, his brother Chad O'Neal as the drummer, and Dan Perdue as the bassist. The band independently recorded their debut album, Capture in 2000, which they used to attract the attention of Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan, who helped them get signed to a major record label Interscope Records. The band released their first and only major label album, Ghosts in 2003, before going independent again and releasing Keep No Score in 2006, and Storyboards in 2009.
In the years following the release of their first four albums, both Chad O'Neal and Perdue would both leave the band to pursue other interests. Ryan O'Neal chose to retain the use of the band's name for his solo work from that point on, but opted to focus on single songs and short EPs than any further traditional albums.
So that's basically about them. I checked about there song in there blog when they made it. It was actually one of the sound track in the movie Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1.
According to the artist, a close friend of his ask him to write a song and submit it to the new twilight movie. This is what he said on his blog;
" i sat down and gave it a shot and wrote "turning page," my submission for the twilight saga: breaking dawn - part 1.
I’ve waited a hundred years
But I’d wait a million more for you
Nothing prepared me for
What the privilege of being yours would do
If I had only felt the warmth within your touch
If I had only seen how you smile when you blush
Or how you curl your lip when you concentrate enough
Well I would have known
What I was living for all along
What I’ve been living for
Your love is my turning page
Where only the sweetest words remain
Every kiss is a cursive line
Every touch is a redefining phrase
I surrender who I’ve been for who you are
For nothing makes me stronger than your fragile heart
If I had only felt how it feels to be yours
Well I would have known
What I’ve been living for all along
What I’ve been living for
Though we’re tethered to the story we must tell
When I saw you, well I knew we’d tell it well
With a whisper we will tame the vicious seas
Like a feather bringing kingdoms to their knees

" i sat down and gave it a shot and wrote "turning page," my submission for the twilight saga: breaking dawn - part 1.
but before i began writing "turning page"
i bought all 3 twilight films on iTunes and watched them for the first
time, back to back. after taking it all in, i did a little research on
what was to come next in the story. it was obvious that the wedding
would be up next, and in essence, the entire twilight saga is, at it's
heart, a love story. so, i decided to write a love song."
He created such a beautiful love song and of course his inspiration is his wedding day. This is what he said when he is doing the lyrics;
"back to the lyrics...
it's easy to write love songs. that's in part why there are 100 trillion of them in existence right now. but i knew that "turning page"
shouldn't just be a collection of pretty words... i had to really mean
it. so having gotten married just a year prior to writing this song, i
had a well of inspiration to draw from that made this song very personal
to me. i knew i wanted to try to write something with the breaking dawn
wedding in mind, so i went back to my well and went through my wedding
pictures.. and little ideas started coming together that hit both marks:
personal to me and my own love story, and made sense within twilight's
epic love story. example:
"your love is my turning page, where only the sweetest words remain. every kiss is a cursive line, every touch is a redefining phrase."
on
the theme of books: i liked the nod to the twilight books series... and
as i did my research to write this song, i was constantly cracking open
the twilight books. and since this song is essentially a love story, i
liked the idea of highlighting the importance of story. on a more
personal level, my wife is a very talented writer
and for her whole life has been in love with books. so i really loved
the idea of pulling in the theme of books/story in the visuals of this
song."
We're literally not a vampire. But come to think of it before God created the universe he already has his mind to each and every one of us so that is long before he created you and me. Meaning we already have our better half to wait or to find, but on his own right timing. I'll post the entire lyrics and a link of the video at the end of this blog. So please do check it out and hope you love it as much as I do.
